Great Start to 2013!

Dear friends and fellow hunters,

Wild Wing had a cracker of a kick-off to 2013 with a fantastic safari from the 6th to 24th April. We had 8 clients with us, and all of them had such an awesome trip that we’ve already booked them in for the same time next year!

We shared a few flicks of the fly in the Tugela River Valley, enjoyed fantastic evening flights of geese, burned hot barrels at the pigeon and dove, and took in some big game just to cap it all off.

Spice of Life

Tony Ball argues that it’s the great variety of sport on offer in South Africa that makes it an attractive destination for the game Shot.

There is something very special about a hunting safari in Africa, especially when it can offer outstanding value when compared with the ever increasing cost of formal grouse, pheasant or partridge shooting in the UK.

Perhaps there is a touch of the ‘Fitch Haddens’ in many of us who hanker for the unpredictability of shooting wild quarry, and when this can be combined with a trip to some of the most beautiful and remote countryside anywhere in the world, which the southern and central African countries can provide in spades, it is no wonder that a safari can hold such a magical prospect.

U.K. 2012 Trip

// November 6th, 2012 // No Comments » // News

Dear friends and fellow hunters,

I shall be in the U.K. from 3 – 10 November 2012 in order to market the 2013 season. I’ll be staying in Fordingbridge, Hampshire with my good friend Tony Ball and have arranged to do a small expo in Upcerne, Dorset. It will take place in the village hall on the 7th November in the evening – if anyone would like to attend, that would be great. Alternatively, please contact me in order to arrange a date when I could come see you and your party, should you be interested in planning a shooting trip to South Africa in the near future.

Holly Hunt

// July 17th, 2011 // No Comments » // Bird Hunting

The annual Holly hunt took place up in the Free State, with the target species being the Helmeted Guineafowl. The first session of shooting belonged to the wily and clever Guineafowl. But a change of strategy and fantastic work by the pointers got the hunting party a bag of 186 birds including some red winged francolin, much to Lloyd Holly’s delight. Once again, Mr. Martin Flavell got the conservation award for not only shooting the least birds, but for not getting one bird in the bag. All in all, a good few sessions of rough shooting.

Bagging the Birds

We had a fantastic morning’s bag, shooting 67 Egyptian and Spurwing geese with 6 guns in a couple of hours. The dogs worked brilliantly, getting some fantastic long retrieves.
